Continuing its success claims against the Indian security force, the proscribed UNLF today said that from Dec 2 since this morning, its MPA cadres have been able to inflict heavy losses on the troops killing over 20 personnel including a Commander and wounding 14.In a statement UNLF said that the heaviest fighting since December 2 took place today morning at two places.
The first encounter took place at about 5.15 am when MPA cadres attacked a re-inforcement convoy of the security force between Selon and Phoilet along the Joupi-New Somtal road.
Seven personnel were killed in this encounter while 8 were seriously injured, said the outfit.
The second duel occurred at about 8.05 am between Holijang and Hengkot along the same route not far from Joupi, it said and claimed that 8 personnel were killed while more than six were injured.
The statement further said that on December 4 the Commander and his subordinates were killed when MPA cadres attacked the huts they were taking shelter in at Old Somtal.
PIB Defence Wine however denied the claims of UNLF.
On Dec 3, two security personnel were killed and several others wounded when they were ambushed by MPA cadres between Old Somtal and S Bongjoi.
The security personnel are yet to muster courage to evacuate the dead bodies by helicopters, Said the UNLF, adding that the.
Red Cross may be allowed to retrieve the bodies, if the security force request so.
In another encounter at Banggai Chingpao near Keiphundai Kuki village two security personnel were killed on November 11, it claimed further.
