A Manipur Rifles personnel was killed while his two companions sustained injuries when the motor cycle they were riding rammed into a Bullock-cart at Taobungkhok under Patsoi Police Station at around 4 am today.
According to reports, the motor cycle was driven by one Wahenebam Doren (29) of Patsoi Part-II while his friend Oinam Mohen (27) of Taobungkhok Makha Leikai was pillion riding in the middle with another friend identified as Thiyam Ibomcha (27), also from Taobungkhok at the rear.
As the head lamp of the bike got fused, the trios were riding with the signal light on.
But as the early morning fog was very thick, they could not see the road ahead properly and drove straight into the bullock cart coming from the opposite direction.
All three of them were rushed to RIMS Hospital, Lamphelpat with serious injuries.
Unfortunately, Doren, who was posted at CCpur as a Rifleman of 7th MR succumbed to the injuries.
The condition of Th Ibomcha too is reported to be serious.
The body of Doren has been taken away by his family members after postmortem.
In another road mishap, two sisters have been admitted to RIMS Hospital after the Honda Activa, they were driving collided with a man coming on a bicycle at Kanglapat at around 6.30 am today.
The injured sisters undergoing treatment at the hospital are identified as Hijam Nirmala (22) and her 19-year old younger sister Thajamanbi of Khurai Tinsid Road.
Suspects held: Four suspects were held during a joint operation launched by civil police of Imphal West, Cdos of Imphal West and CRPF personnel at Langol Games Village today from 2.30 am to 8 am.
