The policies and programmes of the SPF Govt is being monitored regularly and closely by the Manipur State Congress Party to keep the Govt on its toes and prevent it from shying away from performing its duties effectively, informed MSCP president M Hemanta.
Speaking on the occasion of the 8th foundation day of the Manipur State Congress Party at Kuki Inn today, Hemanta said that the party with only two MLAs has been supporting the Congress led SPF Govt very sincerely but at the same time has not been hesitant in applying pressure on the Govt if any policy that was detrimental to the interest of the general public was mooted.
Stating that many questions have been raised by the public regarding the function and work of the MSCP, Hemanta said that the party is still very much alive and is still functioning under its own symbol and further said that projection of its own candidate in the recent by election of the Konthoujam A/C is a testimony to the fact that the party is still very much alive and functioning.
He also said that the party would be putting up its own candidates in the next general elections and further urged its workers to work sincerely and help in strengthening the party in the State.
MLA Vivek Raj who also spoke on the occasion said that the party's support to the Congress led SPF Govt is still firm and strong and will continue to do so as long as the Govt works in the interest of the people.
Referring to the controversy over the MSCP's office at Nityaipat Chuthek, he said that the case filed in connection with the matter will be over within a short period and added that the office will be developed once the case is over.
Vivek Raj also informed that the party supports the demand for the revocation of AFSPA and for improving of law and order conditions in the State.
