Imphal, November 04:
Allotment of land under CS Dag No.1200 and 1363 located within Yaral Loukol in the name of Mega Manipur Society (MMS) to facilitate construction of a school there has been strongly opposed.
Addressing a press conference at Manipur Press Club here today, members of Yaral Loukol Agri farmers Club (YLAFC) asserted that the said plot of land is reserved for poor farmers of the area and the allotment order issued by the State Government in the name of MMS chairperson is objectionable.
Though the controversial plot was recorded as Khasland in the land record of 1960, State Government had already given patta and reserved it for poor farmers under 20-point economic programme of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, YLAFC president Th Tompishak said.
Since then this piece of land has been the source of livelihood for many poor landless farmers even if they do possess the patta of the land, he added.
Tompishak observed that the approval of the Pradhan concerned and the people of the locality should have been taken before issuing the allotment order.
It is indeed very unfortunate, the Government has not considered this aspect, he complained.
Ex-pradhan Ksh Lala demanded that Circle Mandal who is alleged to have been involved in transferring the land already allotted for another purpose should also be pulled up and given appropriate punishment.
Pradhan Ksh Shanti clarified that although there was the instance in which Top Dusera Gram Sabha had given its approval for using 0.82 acres of land from within CS Dag No 1200 under certain condition, the Sabha had never given permission for owning the said land piece to anyone.
Shanti revealed this matter in the presence of both Upa Pradhan of Top Dusera Gram Panchayat W Sanajaoba and president of Kshetrigao Kendra Loumee Lup Thounaujam Bijoy, who attended the press conference.
When the agreement was for using only 0.82 acres of land, inclusion of 22.02 acres of land more from within the two Dag No in the allotment order was objectionable, Shanti said.
As for allowing to use land falling under CS Dag No.1363, no agreement has been arrived at between the MMS and the Top Dusera Gram Panchayat, he noted.
In fact, the piece of land which the Gram Sabha had given its due approval for using to MMS was earlier being utilised by one farmer named Kumar.
