Grievance Committee on Census 2001 and Karong Railway Head, Senapati District has served an ultimatum to the Chief Minister demanding revocation of the Cabinet decision taken on Census report 2001 with regard to sub-divisions of Paomata, Purul and Mao-Maram in Senapati district.
The ultimatum made it clear that the Committee would be compelled to take agitation if the said demand is not met within November 15.The ultimatum contended that the Cabinet decision on September 18, 2003 has done gross discrimination and injustice towards the people of Senapati by blatantly slashing down the population figure of Senapati district.
The Cabinet has termed the decadal growth of population Mao-Maram, Paomata and Purul subdivisions of Senapati district as abnormal, despite that fact that population in the district has been risen in recent years due to various reasons include influx of people, the ultimatum rued.
The Committee has also taken strong exception to the State Government for cancellation the plan to construct railway head from Karong, for which former Union Railway Minister Nitish Kumar had laid the foundation stone on November 17, 1998 at Karong.
