At least six persons, including a medical pharmacist on duty in the area and a headmaster of a school, were injured when armed militants beat them up with sticks and gun butts at Kaihlam village, within Thanlon subdivision on November 1, 2004, said a late report reaching here today.
Out of the six persons injured, two of them reached Lamka last night and are being treated at the District Hospital here, said sources.
The two persons who arrived here last night are V Thangkholun (56) of New Lamka who is on medical duty at Kaihlam village and Dongzapau (35) of Kaihlam village.
While Thangkholun complained of chest pains and bore some injury marks apparently caused by gun butts, Dongzapau has a fractured arm and back pains.
The other four persons who bore the brunt of the UGs' ire are Mangboi (25) s/o (L) Kaizamang, chief of the village, Chinkhansong (45) who is the headmaster of Mission school in the village, Songkhansiam (45) of Kaihlam village and Liansangson (16) also from Kaihlam village.
Sources said that they were not allowed by the militants to leave the village.
All of them suffered injuries on their backs as they were ordered to lie face down and hit with sticks.
None of them are however in a critical condition, said sources.
