CU will set up Co-operative bank at Ukhrul, says Avai Horam

The president of Ukhrul Credit Union (CU), Avai Horam has announced that the Union will set up Co-operative banks in Ukhrul town to provide maximum financial support and promote local entrepreneurs for sustainable business.
He made the statement while addressing the inauguration function of the newly constructed Credit Union Building Complex.
A Horam continued that the vision of Ukhrul Credit Union is to serve the people of Ukhrul by giving loans to the marginalized section and help increase their livelihood.
He mentioned that the Union will also provide support to meritorious students from poor economic backgrounds, persons in dire financial situations and organise financial literacy awareness.

The president further informed that the Credit Union was formed in 1998 and is an amalgamation of three organizations (Fraternity Thrift Society, Haofia Society and Livestock Development society) .
Tennyson Kazingmei, chairman of SEAT, urged the Union to focus on the welfare of the public.
"It should be welfare programmes not benefit oriented organisation and should not deviate from your laid down objectives and visions", he asserted.
Luckson Kengoo, Dr Ng Luithui and S Mashungai also spoke on the occasion.
During the programme, Rev Remember Rimai, pastor UBC Church Ukhrul unveiled the plaque and dedicated the building by invoking special prayer in the presence of pastors, Tangkhul CSOs leaders, members and well wishers at Phungreitang, Ukhrul.
