Works of NIELIT apprised to RS team

The Committee on Information and Communication Technology Management in Rajya Sabha headed by Tiruchi Siva visited Imphal on April 30 .
Other Rajya Sabha Members who visited Imphal along with Tiruchi Siva are Rakesh Sinha, Sujeet Kumar, KR Suresh Reddy and Neeraj Dangi.
A presentation on mandate of National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) and work done by the organisation for dissemination of IT awareness in the region was made to the committee by NIELIT Guwahati Director Dr Y Jayanta Singh and NIELIT Imphal Director N Debachandra.
The committee appraised the activities of NIELIT and its contributions to skilling citizens of the country in the field of information, electronics and communication technology.
The committee advised NIELIT to focus on holistic approach while providing online training so that all sections of society are equally benefited.
The committee also advised NIELIT to take its digital literacy training to every remote area of the State such as Kwatha village neighbouring Myanmar.
The Director, NIELIT Imphal informed the committee that under a sponsored programme of MeitY, awareness programme for women, elderly persons, school students and farmers would be conducted at remote areas of the State such as Kwatha village at the earliest.
He also said that NIELIT Imphal has a plan to take its activities to remote areas of the State in coordination with the State Government.
The Rajya Sabha committee advised NIELIT Imphal to track its ex-students who have already found placement in various Government and non-Government organisations so that they could be ambassadors for enhancing placement of NIELIT students.
