Many greet on Eid-ul-Fitr; iftar party held

Many people and organisations including Manipur Legislative speaker Th Satyabrata Singh, Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Keisham Meghachandra, CPI, MPP, All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), United Committee Manipur (UCM), Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA), All Manipur Muslim Development Organisation (AMMDO) and Kangleipak Minority Welfare Organisation (KMWO) Manipur have extended greetings to people of Manipur especially the Muslim community on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
In separate releases, they wished that celebration of the festival will strengthen the bond of brotherhood, and usher in peace and harmony, and bring all-round development in the state.
Stressing that essence of the festival revolves around helping the needy and vulnerable, the organisations and individuals reminded that it also the time for forgiveness, compassion and respect of all.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, AMMDO along with All Manipur United Club Organisation (AMUCO) provided food items to Markaj Darul Yatama (Orphanage) Centre, Lilong Atoukhong while KMWO Manipur has urged shopkeepers not to sell firecrackers, toy guns or hike prices of goods in the name of the festival.
In connection with the festival, Keithelmanbi Battalion of IGAR (South) organised an Iftar party at Lilong in Thoubal district on Sunday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the special Iftar party was organised by Assam Rifles for the locals of the area to mark the festival of Eid.
