Imphal, July 16 2021:
The Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) has stated that it fully extends its support to Government's call to impose total curfew from July 18 .
KIMACS in a press release, expressed concern over the staggering rise in the number of Covid cases each passing day and stated that the total curfew will be the only solution as recklessness on the part of the people grew over the past few weeks despite measures such as lockdown, curfew and containment.
Even as there were relaxations on few activities, the guidelines were openly flouted and people were seen crowding market places, shops and every nook and corner of the State, observed KIMACS.
Above these, many people who think that vaccinated people will never catch the dreaded Covid virus, were seen roaming and loitering carelessly, it said while stressing on the need for raising awareness to clear the misconceptions surrounding the Covid vaccine.
At a time when expert groups are claiming that the 3rd wave has hit India, high class families on their luxurious vehicles were seen in large number and even cause traffic jams at certain sections in Imphal, KIMACS noted.
KIMACS continued that guidelines issued to open shops on roster basis were not effectively implemented and there was rampant sale of tobacco products and even alcohol.
It also expressed concern over drug abuse among students who are deprived of school education due to the Covid pandemic, gathering and parties at deserted places and appealed to the State Government to clamp lockdown effectively all over the State and strictly monitor all activities.
While expressing any move taken up for the welfare of the people will be welcomed, KIMACS called on people to take the curfew as a wartime measure and collectively bear it for some time.
