Imphal, May 14 2012:
Demanding immediate disbursement of the delayed post-matric scholarship to Scheduled Castes students for the academic year 2010-11, the Post Matric Sc-holarship Affected Guardian Committee has threatened to launch 48-hour general strike in the State beginning from 6am of May 24 if the authority fails to response positively within May 22 .
An ultimatum to this effect has been served to the Chief Minister today by the Post Matric Scholarship Affected Guardian Committee.
Meanwhile, addressing media persons today at the Manipur Press Club, member of PMSAGC, M Manglem, who is also the general secretary of Lois Representatives, decried the apathy of the authority concerned in delaying the disbursement of post matric scholarship to SC students for the academic year 2010-11 till now.
He recalled that several memoranda have been submitted to the CM in this regard even if the Chief Minister, TD department and MOBC deliberately failed to response to the plea till date.
Manglem said his organisation would be compelled to enforce state-wide 48 hours general strike from May 24 in case the authority concerned fails to give positive response till May 22 .
Maintaining that the delay is caused by the amalgamation of MOBC with TD department, Manglem further demanded that a separate cell for the SC (MOBC) be instituted so that such inconveniences are avoided.
He also urged all the seven MLAs on whose territorial dominion the presence of SC populace are felt to take up possible measure towards this end.
