Some youngsters who went to Serou for offering prayer to the local deity have been allegedly assaulted by police personnel of Chakpikarong police station at about 4.30 pm yesterday.
Yumnam James (21) s/o Lokendro of Sugnu Wapokpi together with three boy friends and four girls were returning from Serou after offering their prayer when they were abused by some men in khaki dress who came in a Gypsy (MN-1K/6570) painted with the word Chakpikarong P/S using foul languages.
Even though James and his friends did not utter a single, the Gypsy turned around and stopped in front of the boys.
Asking who was the one who shouted back, the men in khaki severely assaulted the four boys, said Lokendro.
Among the four boys, James was thrashed most severely.
After initial treatment at Sugnu CHC, James has been admitted in Raj Polyclinic.
A complaint has been filed at Sugnu police station seeking befitting against all the police personnel involved in the unwarranted assault, Lokendro added.
