Civil Service successful candidate Oinam Sarankumar has been given a rousing reception by Educational Trust, Oinam at Oinam Public Hall today.
Oinam Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Oinam Budhi, retired teacher Oinam Babu and social worker Oinam Ibeton graced the occasion as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Earlier, Sarankumar was welcomed by a large number of Oinam people when he landed at Tulihal Airport.
Son of Oinam Ingocha and Renu of Oinam Bazar, Sarankumar secured 147th position in the All India Combined Civil Services examination conducted by UPSC last year.
Sarankumar achieved his aim of joining the allied group of Civil servants of the country in his third attempt.
Speaking to reporters, Sarankumar said, if firmly determined, aspiring candidates can also get through the exam by preparing in Manipur.
However, Sarankumar said he went to Delhi due to non-availability of suitable study material and erratic power supply.
He could achieve the milestone with supports from parents, teachers and well-wishers, Sarankumar said.
He also interacted with the people of his locality after the function.
