Senapati, March 14 2023:
The delay in the re-construction of Barak Bailey Bridge at Koide Biisho has become a serious concern for the people travelling along the route.
Reportedly, the Deputy Commissioner of Senpati had earlier issued an order for complete closure of Barak Bailey Bridge right after the bridge collapse on November 22, 2022 .
Speaking to media persons, KS Solomon, convenor Maram-Phaibung Road Development Committee stated that no authority has come till date for reconstruction of the Barak Bailey bridge that had collapsed last year.
He informed that on March 10, 2023, irate land owners blocked the passage and denied entry to all the commuters stating that the allotted time for passage was only till last January.

He continued that all the commuters on the way to Senapati were forcefully denied entry into the private land temporarily used to cross the river.
"However, with timely intervention of Senapati DC, an understanding was reached between the land owners and Maram-Phaibung Road Development Committee to let the commuters pass as an alternative for a short duration", he added.
Pointing out that around 300-400 vehicles including heavy and light vehicles ply along the route daily, KS Solomon said, "Once rain comes, commuters will not be able to cross the river as it is joined by many tributaries" .
KS Solomon further appealed to the authorities concerned to look into the matter at the earliest and ensure free passage without any hindrance.
