SSUM celebrates 8th foundation day

Socialist Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM) celebrated its 8th foundation day at Lalambung Primary School, here on Tuesday.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, School's head mistress L Jamuna reminded all concerned that nothing is unachievable if one sets a target and makes concerted effort to attain the goal.
Commending SSUK for the relentless endeavours to improve the education sector and expressing confidence that the Union will sustain the efforts for welfare of the student community, she, however, lamented notion of the public with regard to poor students' enrolment in government schools.
The head mistress also urged all to do away with the wrong notion that government schools cannot guide the students to the path of academic excellence and further appealed to parents for proper guidance and support to their children studying in government schools.
Delivering the presidential speech, SSUM president Soraijam Yaima noted that despite the government taking care of shortage of teachers in government schools, rate of enrolment of students is up to the mark.
He also appealed all to stay away from drugs and lead a healthy and successful life.
Lalambung High School senior teacher L Bala, who was present as guest of honour during the function, assured of providing free notebooks to the students of the school for the whole academic year.
Volunteers of SSUM donated blood in a donation camp organised at JNIMS as part of the foundation day celebration held under the theme espousing the ideals of education centred on bringing positive changes in the society.
