MGSF joins 'parliament' protest, petitions CM

Participating in the nationwide parliament protest launched under the joint aegis of All India State Government Employees' Federation and Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers; Manipur Government Services' Federation (MGSF) also organised a sit-in protest at New Secretariat, here, for one hour on Tuesday and submitted a seven-point charter of demands to the chief minister.
According to MGSF general secretary Purujit Lairikyengbam, the nationwide parliament protest was organised based on the resolution adopted by the national executive committee meeting held in Chandigarh on February 11 and 12.Central and state government employees have been raising the seven demands for several years.
The demands include re-implementation of the Old Pension Scheme instead of NPS; service regularisation of the contract, outsourced, daily waged employees; constitution of 8th Central Pay Commission; filling up vacant posts in central, state government departments & PSUs; release of DA/DR including withheld arrears; removal of riders and restrictions on compassionate employment; and granting democratic rights to trade unions, he said.
Leaders of employees' unions from across the country and stakeholders organised parliament protest in front of Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Similar protests were also held in all the states by their respective unions, he said.
Later, representatives of MGSF submitted a memorandum containing the seven-point charter of demands to the chief minister and the federation would also be submitting similar memorandums to the DCs of all districts, Purujit added.
