Water storage tanks distributed

As part of its civic action programme, 86 Battalion CRPF of Manipur & Nagaland Sector distributed water storage tanks to villagers of Leikhampokpi village in Kangpokpi district on March 9.According to a CRPF release, the distribution programme was attended by CRPF Manipur & Nagaland Sector IG Sandeep Datta, DIG Range Imphal Ravindra Singh Rautela, 86 Battalion commandant Mohamand Yusuf, battalion officers, Leikhampokpi village chief Paulung Chawang and chairman Sagar Chawang, Speaking on the occasion, Commandant Yusuf informed that in an earlier civic action programme, a meeting was held with the villagers wherein the villagers requested him to provide water storage tanks as they are facing acute shortage of water during the hot and dry summer months.
Accordingly, water storage tanks were provided with the aim to fulfil the critical needs of the local populace, he said.
The chief guest of the programme, IG Sandeep Datta while addressing the gathering expressed his gratitude to the villagers and stated that distribution of water tanks was done with ah aim to help and develop the village and all the people living in Leikhampokpi village and also create an atmosphere of good will and positive relationship with the people.
The villagers can now store rain water and ground water from the hills for their uses as well as for contingency uses, he further stated.
During the programme, Leikhampokpi village chief and the villagers lauded the grand initiative of 86 Battalion CRPF arid extended their heartfelt gratitude with the hope that many more similar events would continue in coming future.
