Valleyrose Hungyo, chief editor and proprietor of The Aja Daily, a Tangkhul-English bilingual newspaper, was given the Excellence in Journalism Award by the ETA Northeast Women's Network for her inspirational role as a woman leader in the field of journalism in Manipur.

She was among 21 women of Manipur, who were given the Women of Substance Award 2023 .
On receiving the covetous award, Valleyrose said: "My journey has been rough in many ways.
There have been many ups and downs in this journey.
It means a lot to me that my husband's and my contributions and efforts have been recognised and acknowledged.
I thank the Northeast Women's Network for awarding me with the Women of Substance Award for 2023 .
I thank everyone, who has supported me throughout my journey.
All glory and thanks to God" .
Valleyrose is the first and only female editor of a daily newspaper in the state, for which she is also the proprietor.
She started her career as a journalist after she started The Aja Daily newspaper along with her husband late Ngathingkhui Hungyo back inl992.They started the daily publication purely out of necessity, Both Valleyrose and her husband didn't have the journalism education background but they felt the need to bridge the communication gaps between different communities through print media.
Back then, it was the only daily newspaper owned and run in a tribal dialect and bilingual in Manipur.
However, they didn't have financial resources to support their venture.
As such, she could not afford to employ good journalists, so she had to attend almost all the meetings herself.
She had to travel to every nook and corner of the state, often leaving her family be hind.
Meanwhile, the Aja Team has congratulated Valleyrose and wished her all the best.
"For almost three decades, she has tirelessly worked hard for our people through thick and thin.
We believed that she rightfully deserved this award, which was given to her, and we at Aja pray that May God continue to use her in doing many more great things.
We are very proud of her," added the team.
