Imphal, March 14 2023:
The Congress party has launched a scathing attack on the BJP Government for unprecedented price hike of all essential commodities.
Addressing a press meet at Congress Bhavan here today, MPCC senior spokesman N Bupenda who is also a member of AICC said that rice is now available abundantly in the market at Rs 35 Kg while NFSA beneficiaries are not given their monthly quota of rice regularly.
Bupenda said that prices of all essential commodities have been rising sharply on account of the policies and programmes chalked out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in collusion with the Adani Group in the interest of a handful of people.
As a result of the unprecedented price hike, the people of Manipur are now suffering a lot, he said.

Since the installation of the BJP Government in 2014, prices of all essential commodities including LPG and fuel have been hiked continuously.
In addition, the people of Manipur are now suffering from acute shortage of water, Bupenda said.
The common people are suffering because of crony capitalism.
People are no longer getting NFSA rice regularly because of the 'Modi-Adani effect', he said.
In Rajasthan where there is a Congress Government, the price of one LPG refill is just Rs 500 whereas the same refill costs Rs 1300/1400 in Manipur, he said.
He went on to claim that the price of LPG refill would not have been higher than Rs 500 in Manipur too had there been a Congress Government.
He also questioned the source of the rice now being sold at markets at much higher price.
Even though the Government of India sent an instruction to the Food and Civil Supply Department, Principal Secretary on January 12 this year to upload details such as the existing quantity of NFSA rice in godowns, how much quantity have been lifted etc, in relevant websites, the State Government is still unable to comply with the instruction, the MPCC senior spokesman said.
If the State Government complies with the Central Government's instruction, people can easily track the whereabouts of NFSA rice, he said.
He asserted that the State Government should provide all the details to the people in a transparent and accountable manner.
Claiming that the previous Congress Government had started all the works of drawing water from Thoubal Dam up to Chingkhei Ching, Bupenda said that the present crisis of water shortage could have been avoided had the incumbent BJP Government worked on the same project with more interest.
