Imphal, June 02 2013:
A former MLA and his younger brother have been accused of dismantling two houses in defiance of a Court ruling related to land ownership dispute.
Speaking to newspersons today, Sukham Bihari (54) s/o S Lukhoi and Ksh Inao (45) s/o Seila of Wangkhei Angom Leikai claimed that their houses were pulled down using a heavy machinery at the instruction of former MLA of Wangjing-Tentha Assembly Constituency Moirangthem Hemanta and his brother M Biren at around 4 am today.
One of the dismantled structures was a residential house and the other used as a grocery shop, Bihari said while strongly condemning the inhumane conduct of the former MLA as family members were rudely awakened and the entire household items ravaged.
Informing that a dispute over land ownership is being contested in a court of law with the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West serving bailable warrant of arrest against M Biren on May 20, 2013, Bihari said he approached the court after Biren claimed to possess document (patta) that the .175 acre homestead land belongs to him (Biren) .
Apart from the warrant of arrest served against the MLA's brother, Biren's threat and intimidation against Bihari on an earlier occasion resulted in the locals intervening and preventing violent clash, he maintained and contended that upon perusal by the local club and meira paibi functionaries no document could be found to suggest that Biren possesses land document.
A complaint has also been filed at Porompat police station for necessary action against Biren and his brother, who are presently residents of Palace Compound, Bihari said.
