Imphal, August 26 2009:
The State Govt is planning a second flyover at Imphal.
The flyover bridge would be constructed from Raj Bhawan junction to Keishampat to reduce traffic congestion along the road.
On the other hand, scaling down its earlier decision to expand Tiddim Road to 125 feet in width, the State Government has decided to expand Tiddim Road to 100 feet only.
An official meeting was held today with Chief Minister O Ibobi, Works Minister K Ranjit and officials of PWD on expansion of Tiddim Road from Keishampat to Airport and construction of a second flyover bridge.
The meeting agreed to entrust the work of finalising details of the flyover such as its length, width, terminal points etc to a team of town planners and engineers.
According to a Cabinet decision adopted earlier, the Government had already decided to acquire additional land for expansion of Tidim Road to 125 feet.
But the Government reviewed the matter and ultimately decided on expansion of Tidim Road to 100 feet.
However, the highway would be 125 feet in width at the Keishampat side of the proposed flyover's terminal.
The Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West has already issued a notification inviting claims and objections within a month regarding acquisition of land for expansion of Tidim Road.
For the proposed flyover, soil testing etc have been already conducted a few
years back.
