CM pledges to root out corruption

Conceding that the Lokayukta Bill passed recently by the Manipur Legislative Assembly have rooms for amendment to make it more effective in dealing with corruption, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has pledged his commitment to root out corruption from the state.
Addressing a public gathering at the Thoubal Mini Secretariat hall today after inaugurating Babu Bazar, Thoubal Keithel, a 100-bedded district hospital and the Mini Secretariat located at different places in Thoubal district headquarters, the Chief Minister said rooting out corruption is inevitable for overall development of Manipur.
Expressing that there should be no leniency in pulling up those found guilty of indulging in graft cases including the Chief Minister, MLA or people's representatives at the grassroots level for exemplary punishment, Ibobi also noted that anti-corruption movement in the country had been gaining momentum.

stating that maintenance of law and order alongwith development of education and health sectors are the top priorities of the SPF Government, he said apart from Nongpok Sekmai plans are afoot to setup police stations and police out-posts as well as village defence force out-posts at strategic locations to facilitate law enforcing agencies deal with the law and order issue more effectively.
Expressing confidence that recent opening of district administrative offices at Ukhrul and Senapati districts some months back would accelerate development activities in the hills and remote areas of the State, the Chief Minister also opined that devolution of administrative powers by strengthening sub-divisional level offices would yield more positive results.
Calling upon the people to shed parochial outlook and to work for the overall development of Manipur, he also affirmed that all out efforts would be made to complete pending development projects taken up in the hill districts before arrival of monsoon next year.
Highlighting that establishment of composite administrative offices at the district headquarters is to eliminate inconveniences endured by the public while processing official documents, the CM also mooted that close proximity of different offices would enable department authorities to regularly check attendance of the employees.
The inauguration spree by the Chief Minister was also attended by Works Minister K Ranjit Singh, Health Minister L Jayantakumar Singh and MLAs O Landhoni Devi, M Hemanta, M Okendro, K Meghachandra, Helaluddin Khan and Dr U deben Singh.
