IED found, grenade lobbed

Imphal, December 24 2011:
A powerful Improvised Explosive Device was discovered at Airport Road, opposite to MEM Higher Secondary School at about 11.40 am today.
The IED was discovered by a team of 18th Sikh Regiment who were on patrol carrying sniffer dogs.
The bomb weighing around 3 Kgs was put inside a plastic can which was again put inside a carton box.
After defusing the bomb at the spot, the IED was taken to Langol and set it off there safely.
On the other hand, unidentified persons hurled a hand grenade at the Thongju Pechu Lampak residence of Manipur University Executive Engineer Sanasam Rajen at about 2.15 this afternoon.
The grenade which failed to go off was later retrieved by police.
