Imphal, December 24 2011:
To conceal one lie, Minister Biren has spoken one hundred lies.
But the truth can never be concealed, President of Federation of Regional Indigenous Society (FREINDS) Sapamcha Jadumani has stated.
Addressing a press conference at FRIENDS here today, Jadumani reiterated that PIL filed in the Gauhati High Court jointly by him and Joy Chingakham through Advocate Irom Lalit on December 11, 2008 was to pray for identification and repatriation of foreigners settled in Manipur under Foreigner Act, 1946 .
Referring to the said PIL by the Chief Minister when MLA Joy raised a Private Member Resolution on implementation of Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873 in Manipur in the Assembly on December 22 was a deliberate attempt to mislead the House.
The assertion of Minister Biren on a case pending in the court over Inner Line Permit system on the basis of the copy of the PIL filed under Foreigner Act, 1946 indicates that Minister Biren did not read the PIL in question thoroughly, Jadumani alleged, and pointed out that in the first page of the PIL itself, the name has been clearly mentioned while third para of page 13 described the purpose of filing the PIL.
Pretending to be sincere after misleading the House when majority of the members supported implementation of Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873 would do no good.
If Minister Biren is sincere enough, there is still time for taking a Cabinet decision in this regard, Jadumani observed.
