Department of Art and Culture and INA Advisory Committee, Moirang jointly celebrated the 188th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at INA Martyrs Memorial Complex, Moirang today.
YAS and Tourism Parliamentary Secretary M Prithviraj, former MLA S Gopal, Art and Culture Joint Director Dr K Sushila and retired Professor of Jadavpur University, Dr Purabi Roy attended the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
M Prithviraj while speaking at the function said that INA Martyrs Complex is one of the most important tourist destinations of the country.
Every tourist, who visit the State, come to Moirang and visit the complex, he added.
As such, the State Government is planning to upgrade the complex under the supervision of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi soon, he said and added that efforts are being made to provide best facilities to tourists at the complex.
Saying that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was a great leader who took active part in the Indian freedom struggle, Prithviraj said that the people of the current generation must follow his footprints.
In her speech, Dr Sushila said that INA complex has witnessed some major functions - birth anniversary celebration of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, flag hoisting ceremony and the observance of Provisional Government of Free India Movement - every year.
Meanwhile, All India Forward Bloc also celebrated the 188th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
The day also marked their Platinum Jubilee celebration which will continue till June 22, 2015 .
CPI Manipur State Council secretary Dr M Nara, AIFB Manipur State Committee chairman Khwairakpam Apanthou Mangang, CPI (M) Manipur State Committee secretariat member Ksh Shanta, RSP Manipur State secretary Ningthoujam Ratan, NCP Manipur State general secretary Yumlembam Iboyaima and CPI Manipur State Council executive member Laishram Sotin attended the function as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
AIFB Manipur State Committee secretary Khomdram Gyaneshwor gave the inaugural speech at the function.
