Imphal, November 22:
The secretariat council meeting of the Communist Party of India has endorsed the previous declaration of its executive council meeting held on November 6, advising the Congress party to put an end to its internal fighting in the interest of the State.
L Sotinkumar, member of the five-member elite group of the CPI stated that after the secretariat meeting held this afternoon, it affirmed the party's initial stand against neglect of the general administration of the State in the midst of the power struggle in the dominant party of the Secular Progressive Front.
He further asserted that an ultimatum against the continuing bickering in the Congress Party could be served after general discussion in the next executive council, which had been in consideration for quite some time.
Sotinkumar explained that the CPI did want not to pressurize the Congress, as it wanted the internal difference of its ally to be absolved between themselves.
However, the infighting has so far shown no sign of reaching any amicable settlement and the CPI has been forced to take a stern view of the situation.
Today's secretariat meeting mainly delved on the coming state conference and reorganization matters of the party after the next party election.
The state conference is reportedly slated for the latter part of February next year.
