Valedictory function held

Valedictory function of the Golden Jubilee cum XLVI General Conference of the Koren (Koireng) Youth Organisation, Manipur was held today at Longa Koireng, Senapati District.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam attended the function as the chief guest while president of Koren (Koireng) Youth Organisation, Manipur (KYO) Zeite Chungsek was the functional president.
IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip and MLA of Saikot Assembly Constituency TN Haokip were the guests of honour.
Member of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council L Johny Gangmei was the Special Invitee.
Even though Koireng is one of the minor ethnic communities of the State, they play an important role in bringing the hill and valley together, stated the Deputy Chief Minister.
In local perspective, the State has diverse cultural and ethnic communities with makes Manipur a vibrant State.
"Koireng is an integral part of the State and without them Manipur will be incomplete," said Gaikhangam.
After distributing prizes to winners of cultural and sports events held as part of the six day annual conference, Gaikhangam urged the Koireng youths to have a sense of competitiveness to excel in various fields .
Such conference will surely bring a turning point for not only Koireng but also for the whole State, he added.
Further he said that steps will be taken up for construction of community halls in different villages settled by Koireng community by next financial year.
On the other hand, Ngamthang Haokip suggested that the police out-post constructed in Keithelmanbi area should be inaugurated at the earliest.
Cultural dance was also presented as part of the valedictory function by a troupe of Longa Koireng Youth Club.
