Cultural programmes in 4 Chinese cities

In commemoration of the 67th anniversary of the Indian Republic Day, presentation of different Manipuri cultural programmes has started at four Chinese cities from today.
The programme is a joint initiative of the Indian Consulate General based at Guangzhou and the Government of Manipur.
According to information received from Indian Consulate, Guangzhou, several Manipuri cultural programmes would be presented at the four Southern Chinese cities of Yunnan, Baoshan, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
The event is a part of a cultural exchange programme which is aimed fostering closer bilateral tries between the two neighbouring countries.
The Manipur cultural troupe would present the world famous Ras Lilas (Maha Ras, Kunja Ras, Basanta Ras, Nitya Ras and Diva Ras) besides Maibi Jagoi, Lai Haraoba, Dasa Avatar, Dhol-Cholom, Hari Nam Prachar, Pung-Cholom, Thang Leiteng Haiba, Maglacharan and stick dance at different venues.
The troupe performed at a gala cultural programme organised by Yunnan provincial Government in coordination with Consulates based in Kunming in partnership with Yunnan Television.
The Manipuri troupe along with a Chinese cultural troupe from Baoshan will present 'India-China Cultural Night' in Baoshan municipality town hall on January 24 .
They would present a dance performance in the prestigious Xinghai Musical Hall in Guangzhou on January 26 where senior officials from Guangdong, Guangzhou and Consular Corps in Guangzhou, prominent Chinese businessmen, local populace and Indian community would be invited to attend the programme.
The last performance will be held in the auditorium of Shenzhen University on January 27 .
Guangzhou Consulate General Sailas Thangal who is from Manipur said that organisation of the cultural programme in China is part of the Consulate's continuous endeavour to enhance cultural exchange and thereby reinforce bilateral cultural ties between India and China, as well as to facilitate internationalization of India's vibrant cultural heritage particularly of the North Eastern States.
