The workshop was organized by Smart Society,
Manipur and sanctioned by National Council for Science
& Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of
Science & Technology, Government of India.

of India; N Rajensana, member, Samaram GP; E

Delivering the keynote address, Debasis Choudhuri
said the main purpose of the project is to minimize health
hazards of farm women engaged in different agricultural
operations.
Farm women play a crucial role in agriculture but their
contributions are least recognized.
They are engaged in
different odd jobs like weeding, transplanting and spraying
insecticides and pesticides to crops without taking
any preventive measures or personal protective equipment
thereby exposing themselves to toxic effects of insecticides.
Farm women also suffer from different type of health
hazards like physical hazard, biological hazard, chemical
hazard and psychological hazard.
The project is targeted
to cover farm women of 20 selected villages under
Thoubal district in Manipur, Debasis stated.
Later, Dinabhandu Sahoo, director IBSD Government
of India, released the Health Manual Book of the project.
