Imphal, April 21:
Three farm workers of Munpi village, Henglep sub-division were injured yesterday at about 9 am in a crossfire during an encounter between troops of 19 Rajput Rifles and well armed militants at the farm where they were working.
One of the workers identified as Paubanyan (18) son of Thientinlam of Munpi was admitted to the distict hospital here after the Army made an arrangement for his journey at around 5 am today.
An X-ray taken on his wound revealed that a bullet is lodged in the right abdomen.
Two of his co-workers identified as Liansangvung (19) S/o Mangkhothang of Munpi who suffered a bullet wound on his right thigh and Lallemthang (20) S/o Thienting of Munpi who was hit on the head were treated by the Army at their camp in Thingkeu village said the villagers who accompanied Paubanyan.
The army came to know about the injuries caused to the civilians only after the villagers informed them at about 4 pm.
Paubanyan was received by the Army at Pearsomun today at about 5 am and was taken to the district hospital.
