Imphal, October 14 2008:
With the armed group PULF (People's United Liberation Front) completing 15 years, a souvenir titled Lamjing Meira was released to mark the occasion today.
Speaking at the souvenir release function held at a location in Chandel district today, PULF assistant secretary Anis Khan said that the souvenir was being released to inform the people about the principle and objectives of the outfit.
Even as the outfit has completed 15 years, the outfit was under the command of four/five brothers with vested interests for a long time.
With the outfit operating under the command of these brothers in their interests rather than in the interest of the people by violating all revolutionary principles for a long time, the Muslim community did not gain anything from the outfit.
But in 2007, the outfit which was monopolised by a few people transformed into an organisation for the mass.
During this short period, PULF has taken up several public welfare programmes, Anis Khan claimed.
Welcoming all suggestions and proposals from the people, the outfit pledged to transform them into action to the best possible level.
The souvenir was being released today to coincide with the historic Mera Hou Chongba festival which symbolises the age old fraternal bond between the people of the valley and the hills.
The souvenir was released today, one day ahead of October 15 on which Manipur lost its independence in 1949 in protest against the State's merger with Indian Union, Anis Khan said.
He further expressed gratitude to all those who donated generously for the souvenir.
