Imphal, June 04:
Normal activities at the State capital were severely affected today due to a 24 hour general strike called by the Anti-Narcotics and Drugs Organisation (ANDO) and the JAC in protest against the killing of its three activists.
Business establishments at Khwairamband Bazar were closed owing to the bandh that came into force from 6 pm yesterday.
Except for essential and ceremonial services, few vehicles were seen in most of the roads and highways of the State capital.

The bandh, however, did not affect regular flights.
The 24-hour general strike which came into effect from 6 pm yesterday, passed off without much untoward incident.
Even as normal life was severely affected in the valley districts of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal and Bishnupur, the bandh had little effect in hill districts.
However, inter-district and inter-State bus services were suspended.
All educational institutions in the valley districts remained closed and attendance in Government offices were also very low.
Unidentified men gunned down ANDO finance secretary Thangjam Abung (27), secretary in-charge Naorem Deben and member Likmabam Surjit on May 31 afternoon at Wangoi area in greater Imphal west.
The proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) has already claimed responsibility for the killing charging the trio of extorting money in the outfit's name.
They were given the capital punishment after a thorough investigation, it said.
The newly formed Joint Action Committee against the trio's killing that called the bandh, while decrying the killing questioned the outfit as to why they were eliminated without giving any warning to rectify their wrongs-doings, even if they committed any.
Meanwhile, a statement issued by the ANDO has conveyed to all civil organisations and the people of the State for their whole-hearted support to the 24 hours general strike called by the JAC.
It further noted that the people should take a firm stand against intimidating and killing social activists at random without any remorse.
Asserting that all accused should be allowed to defend his/her actions before punishing them, the ANDO and the JAC also appealed for cooperation from the people for its further course of agitation.
The ANDO further maintained it can never accept the killing of its three activists in cold apparently at the instigation of some vested interests.
