All necessary preparations including security measures have been put in place for counting of votes for the by polls at Khundrakpam and Khangabok at the respective district Hqs tomorrow.
The counting of votes for Khundrakpam A/C will begin from 8 am at Panchayat Bhavan inside the Imphal East DC office complex.
Counting will conducted done over 10 tables.
At Thoubal DC office complex, counting for the Khangabok A/C by-poll will be held over 10 tables.
It is expected that the by-poll results of both the Assembly segments will be declared by 10.30 am tomorrow.
Talking about security measures taken up by police for the counting, SP Imphal East district L Kailun informed The Sangai Express that the counting place will be guarded by three different layers of security force.
The first layer will be manned by CRPF personnel while the second and third layers will be jointly constituted by State police personnel, commandos, MR and IRB personnel.
Moreover, there will be restrictions in traffic movement from Porompat crossing to Kongpal Iranpham from 7 am.
However, the same restrictions will not cover officials of the Election Commission of India and election observers, conveyed the SP.
No officials appointed for counting votes as well as other individuals having authorisation letters issued by the ECI will be allowed to take their vehicles within the DC office complex, Kailun informed.
A candidate may enter the counting place without any company and security escorts, he added.
All vehicles of the candidates, election agents and counting agents shall be parked inside the Modern College campus.
Similarly, stringent security measures have also been taken up at Thoubal DC office complex.
According to SP Thoubal district, there would be certain restriction in traffic movement from Yairipok crossing to Wangbal during the counting period.
