Three student bodies, namely AMSU, MSF and DESAM, have jointly announced the line of action to be taken up for furthering the cause of the ongoing public movement.
Addressing media persons at AMSU Headquarters this evening, leaders of the three student bodies gave a clarion call to all the Government employees working in various department to start joining the movement.
Issuing strong warning to all the political parties which have not come out with their stand on the public demand for lifting of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur, the student leaders said leaders said that wrath of the people might be targeted against these political parties as well as to those State police personnel who are using force to muffle the voice of the angry protestors.
Announcing the further course of action to be taken up, DESAM president L Romesh disclosed that mass protest would be launched by teachers and students of all the schools and colleges in Manipur from August 3 to 6.He also appealed to all the teachers and the students to take part in the mass protest.
Urging the Government employees and NGOs to join the ongoing movement, Romesh reminded that the present cause is for all the people of Manipur.
In case India Government shy away from fulfilling the demand of the people, the agitating people might be even constraint to cut off all road links with mainstream India.
Observing that the action of the political parties in the State and in particular those in the coalition Government has confused the people, Romesh noted that some of the political parties have not yet known public their stand on the issue of lifting Armed Forces Special Powers Act even as the ongoing movement has reached a critical stage.
This does not auger well as the wrath of the people might be targeted against them leading to more violence in the State, he forewarned.
AMSU president Ksh Umesh informed that along with mass participation of students in the movement, representatives of North East Students� Organization (NESO) today staged a protest demonstration at New Delhi�s Jantar Mantar demanding lifting o AFSPA from the whole of North East.
NESO representatives would be meeting the Union Home Minister to press the demand, he added.
He further informed that the wave of the ongoing movement has reached Cachar and Lakhipur districts in Assam where people in large number started holding demonstration demanding lifting of repressive Act.
Umesh also come down strongly on the State security forces for using force against peaceful protestors and said that their action might act like oil to the burning flame.
MSF president Kh Gourachandra who was also present at the occasion, while speaking to mediapersons pointed out that all the people irrespective their creed and political leaning should join the ongoing mass movement.
He also condemned closure of educational institutions by the ruling SPF Government with a view to prevent students from taking part in the ongoing mass agitation for lifting Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958 from Manipur.
