Outer Lok Sabha MP Mani Charenamai today toured the landslide hit areas of Senapati District and minutely surveyed the plight of the victims.
In Keithelmanbi there was a big reception ceremony for the MP by the affected villagers of the area.
After listening to the villagers, Mani Charenamai asked the villagers and other authorities concerned of the area to give him a detailed report of the losses due to the recent devastating mudslides.
Charenamai told the gathering villagers that he would try his level best to extend help to the victims in his capacity as an MP.
He said that his MP fund was not meant for individuals but for the community development.
He assured that his MP fund would be utilized for constructions of community buildings and the likes.
However, the villagers of the Keithelmanbi asked the MP to make necessary pre-emptive measures so as to prevent from future devastations taking place in the area.
The villagers asked the MP to make change the river-course by constructing a new course for which the MP assured them that he would do something.
He also visited Mao�s Pikhomei village where numerous houses had been damaged including the NH-39.The former DFO asked the villagers to use the forests in the right perspective or else more devastation could take place.
He said that the soil in the area had become lose due to extensive cutting down of trees.
Talking in a public reception arranged in his honour at a school in Pikhomei, Charenamai said that he was unable to give immediate help to the victims in the area but assured them that he would definitely help.
