Imphal, May 28 2012:
Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress (MPTC) today staged a sit-in protest against the price hike of petrol as well as to demand justice for Loitam Richard and Okram Laba, who were killed in Bangalore recently.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the protest demonstration, MPTC President Kim Gangte asserted that the Chief Minister of Manipur and his Cabinet Ministers should personally go to Karnataka and New Delhi and press the governments to scale up the investigation process so as to ensure justice to the two ill-fated Manipuri students.
This is not the time to write letters and wait for the reply, she said.
The students bodies in Manipur have resorted to stopping import of products made in Karnataka on account of the negligence of the state government.
Only if the CM had gone to meet his Karnataka counterpart and leaders at the Centre, they would have taken the matter more seriously, she maintained.
Talking about the price hike of petrol, Kim Gangte assured that her party would not remain silent over the issue which has directly impacted the common people.
Regardless of being an alliance of the current UPA government, the party would do what is right for the common people, she added.
