Two oil pumps within IMC to operate 24 hours

Imphal, May 28 2012:
Two oil pumps located within Imphal Municipal Council area would be made operational round the clock on rotational basis for one month each and all the petrol pumps located within the same area would remain open till 9 pm with effect from June 1 .
A decision to this effect was adopted in a meeting presided by the Chief Minister today where the CAF&PD Minister, officials of IOC's Imphal Divisional Office, representatives of fuel retail outlets, officials of Power Department and the DGP were present.
The new arrangement would make Jas Gas, Uripok and Porompat Service Station operational 24 hours during the month of June.
The two petrol pumps which would replace them in July have not been decided.
During the meeting, representatives of retail outlets put up the matter of power supply if they must open till 9 pm.
In response, Power Department officials maintained that Porompat Service Station, Jas Gas, Tuks and Bond, Kusum Service Station, Bakliwal Enterprises, PCTC, Oil City, KP Service Station and NRL Khurai have been already provided uninterrupted power supply.
They also assured that the remaining oil-pumps located within Imphal Municipal area would be provided uninterrupted power supply very soon.
They also invited application for installing pre-paid meter system.
From the side of the Government, due assurance was given to provide adequate security for oil-pumps which would remain open till 9 pm or throughout day and night.
Moreover, flying squads would be stationed at these oil pumps.
Phone numbers of these flying squads would be given to oil-pumps for immediate reaction in the event of any unwanted incident.
Further, representatives of retails outlets appealed to the Government to allow them shut their pumps if the law and order situation becomes highly risky or there is no customer at all.
To this, the Government officials said, "This is only a trial.
Let's see what happens" .
