Keeping its view on enhancing the Indo-Myanmar border, the State Government has studied the need of constructing standard roads and bridges for the upcoming Moreh township which would be developed to international standard.
The Government of Manipur has already prepared a plan to acquire 1500 acres of land at Moreh, to the western side of Myanmar's Tamu market.
For this, the Government has decided to approach the Centre for a special package.
In connection with the proposed international township at Moreh, RD&PR Minister Francis Ngajokpa, Tengnoupal MLA DK Korungthang and the Chandel ADC Chairman conducted a field inspection of the roads built under PMGSY as well as the areas where new roads would be built.
MLA DK Korungthang said that due initiatives have been already put into motion to build roads up to the international border in view of the upcoming international township which would be major thrust to India's Look East Policy.
Cutting of road from Khudengthabi to Kharou Khullen via Rilam Centre which is a distance of 29 Kms was completed under the sixth phase of PMGSY.
During the seventh phase, road cutting work was extended up to the border village of Yangoupokpi via Lamlong Khunou from Kharou Khullen.
During the eighth phase, two roads would be built from Moreh to Maojang and Oksu, said Korungthang.
