Imphal, May 28 2012:
Remembering the incident in which three students were killed by police during students' agitation in 1973 and 1979, AMSU observed 23rd Students' Emancipation Day in collaboration with AMSU Bishnupur Branch at the auditorium of Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School today.
Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, Thokchom Suresh, President of AMSU said that the observance is being held in memory of the three students of Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, who were killed by Manipur police personnel while the students of this school were agitating to press their demand for supply of required infrastructure and other materials.
He further said that the agitations being carried out by the six student bodies like torching of effigies of the Chief Minister and Home Minister of Manipur and Karnataka as well as burning of goods made in Karnataka do not necessarily mean that the student communities of Manipur are against Karnataka government.
