Imphal, May 28 2012:
Categorically stating that the no confidence motion raised against ex-Chairman Sh Seipu was done by 16 Members at their own conscience keeping in line all general democratic norms, Sadar Hills ADC Vice-Chairman Haokholal Hangsing ruled out involvement of any party within or outside the SoO pact.
Speaking to media persons at his Checkon residence this afternoon, Haokholal said that if the charge of abduction was true, family members of the abducted Members could have lodged FIRs in police stations.
The seven Members whom ex-Chairman Seipu alleged were abducted by an armed group have submitted their own declarations to the police today clarifying they were never abducted.
The question of abduction was not mentioned during the meeting held at Congress Bhavan on April 3 between MPCC president Gaikhangam and ADC Members.
Nobody talked about abduction when Gaikhangam and Chief Minister O Ibobi took opinions of the Members in presence of Ministers and MLAs at Congress Bhavan on April 10 .
If there was any genuine case of abduction, then it is highly questionable as to why the abducted Members never talked about it at Congress Bhavan which is always well guarded by security forces, Haokholal said.
As there was no case of abduction in reality, all the Members voted freely when the no confidence motion was discussed on May 23 .
Haokholal went on to charge that Sh Seipu was directly involved when he (Haokholal), DCC president Thangkham Misao and ADC Member Seikholun Khongsai were abducted in the night of March 19 .
FIR case no 98 (3) 2012 p/s is a clear testimony to this fact, he asserted.
It was on account of this abduction case that the no confidence motion was discussed at Chingmeirong.
Even if one wishes to hold the polling for election of new Chairman at Kangpokpi, the Government decided to hold the polling at Imphal on account of abduction case reported earlier.
The no confidence motion moved Seipu had nothing to do with MLA Yamthong.
If any untoward incident breaks out during election of a new Chairman, ex-Chairman Seipu should be held responsible, he added.
