Imphal, March 15 2013 :
The proscribed RPF has claimed its hand in carrying out a bomb attack against a patrolling team of 9 Assam Rifles at a spot about 1.5 Km away from Kondong Lairembi complex along Imphal-Moreh road in Chandel district at around 7.30 am today.
According to a press release issued by the outfit's Department of Publicity Chief Bangkim, five AR personnel were killed while some others sustained injuries in the bomb attack which was carried by a Special Warfare Group of the PLA.
It further claimed that the dead and wounded personnel were airlifted in two helicopters.
The bomb attack was a part of the PLA's strategy to defeat activities being undertaken by IGAR (S) with a design to keep the people of Manipur under foreign occupation for good.
Even as the Indian military posted here have been consistently denying all incidents of offensive carried out by the PLA and casualties they suffered, Indian Defence Minister stated in the Parliament on March 12, 2013 that 337 military personnel have been killed in 2010, 2011 and 2012 in fighting insurgents in Jammu and Kashmir and the North East.
The Minister also stated that two military personnel have been killed in the two regions this year and his statement was published widely in media.
The figure of casualty suffered by the Indian military is mainly based in Manipur for armed confrontation has declined considerably in Jammu and Kashmir and revolutionary groups operating in the so called North East region have ceased targeting the Indian military except those groups based in Manipur, claimed the outfit.
PLA has been successful in all its series of offensive against the Indian military because of people's faith and love for the PLA.
While acknowledging the exploits of PLA cadres who are taking the role of vanguards in the war of liberation as well as support extended by people, the PLA's war office appealed to all the people for continuous support towards the freedom struggle.
