Army man, civilian hurt in blast

Imphal, September 08 2012:
Barely two days after a blast injured two AR men at Keishampat, an army jawan and a civilian sustained injury this morning when an IED exploded near Tiddim Ground, Airport Road.
Police source said, an IED fitted alongside a tree sapling on the road median exploded at around 8.10 am today.
A civilian and a jawan of 18 Sikh Regiment, who was part of the foot patrol party, received splinter wounds due to the explosion.
The injured jawan has been identified as Lance Naik Harvindar of Gurdaspur district, Punjab while the civilian has been identified as Akham Shanti Singh (31) of Kwakeithel Bazar.
Shanti received splinter injury at the leg.
The condition of both is stated to be stable though.

The busy Tedim Road where the blast occurred is used by VIPs, Army, AR, CRPF and other security forces besides civilians.
Meanwhile, an IED was recovered from the residence of E Premkumar located at Kadangban Part-II under Lamshang PS a in Imphal West, this morning around 7 .
Premkumar is a candidate for pradhan under Lairenkabi GP.
Bomb experts of the police department retrieved and defused the explosive which was found packed inside an empty canned fish container.
