First two days of 2021 see two COVID deaths, 55 positive cases

Imphal, January 02 2021:
The first two days of the new year registered two COVID-19 deaths and 55 new positive cases.
Two females aged 72 and 52 who hailed from Imphal East and Kakching districts died of COVID-19 at Raj Medicity and JNIMS Hospital respectively during the last 48 hours.
Taking into account the latest victims, the State's COVID-19 death toll has reached 357 .
A press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang informed that 55 people were tested positive for the virus during the last 48 hours.
The new cases were detected at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal West, Maipakpi Hospital, Shija Hospital, Thoubal, Jiribam, Tamenglong Raj Medicity, Escent Diagnostics and Babina Diagnostics.
The 55 people who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (20), Imphal East (11), Thoubal (9), Bishnupur (3), Tamenglong (7), Churachandpur (3), Ukhrul (1) and Jiribam (1) .
On the other hand, 104 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 48 hours from CAPF (17), home isolation (60), JNIMS (8), RIMS (5), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (6) and Shija Hospital (6) and Bishnupur (2) .
The cumulative number of positive cases is 28,243 (general population 24,863 and Central security personnel 3,380) .
It includes 1,104 active cases (general population 993 and Central security personnel 111) and 26,782 discharged cases (general population 23,517 and Central security personnel 3,265) .
The recovery rate as on Saturday is 94.82 per cent.
