CM conducts aerial survey of Dzuko Valley

Chief Minister N.Biren Singh conducted an aerial survey of Dzuko valley in Senapati District on the last day of 2020 .
A wildfire had been wreaking havoc in the hill range since the past few days.
The Chief Minister, accompanied by Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar, DGP LM Khaute and Senapati DC Th Kirankumar, boarded a helicopter and took stock of the situation from around 11:30 am .
The survey continued till around 1:30 pm .
As the wildfire was spreading very alarmingly and needed immediate attention before it spread towards Mt Iso, the Chief Minister personally undertook the aerial survey.
The State Government had also requested the National Disaster Response Force to provide assistance in containing the situation and had also requisitioned the Army and the Assam Rifles to assist firefighters in extinguishing the wild fire.
It was said that the wild fire might probably have started about 2-3 days ago from the Nagaland side and crossed over to Manipur side.
As an immediate measure over 80 persons/volunteers from Mao area including Forest Department officials were deployed since early morning of 30th December, after a detailed discussion with the District Administration, to assess the situation and they have already reached the spot.
Following the first team, 200 Fire fighters had also been deployed and reached the spot.
People of Manipur especially villagers of Mao showed gratefulness to the Chief Minister for his swift action undertaken to contain the wild fire.
