Teaching community of Government Dance College has urged the Government to lift Section 144 CrPC and remove security from the college campus at palace Compound.
Speaking to media persons at the college premises today, Senior Lecturer Gurumayum Loken Sharma said that the imposed Section 144 and the presence of security personnel has affected the environment in the college.
The Government should lift Section 144 and make the college a free zone.
Further, the teaching community is of the opinion that the demand of the students relating to admission in the Manipur University of Culture is valid, he said.
Their demand is to get admission to MA courses in the Manipur University of Culture.
These students have completed graduation and hold diploma certificates and other universities of culture elsewhere in India accept such students.
Many of the students who have completed their courses in the college are also studying in Manipur University, he said.
Appealing the Government and the higher authority of the Manipur University of Culture to review their earlier stand on the issue and consider the demand of the students to save their career, he said that the teaching community is also ready to assist the Government and provide suggestions if needed to bring about a solution.
Appealing the Government should lift the Section 144 prohibitionary order and make the campus free zone, he said that the students have not committed any violent act or disrupted normalcy in the college campus.
To mark their protest, they had removed the university's (MUC) chairs.
There was no breaking of chairs or other university properties.
They simply removed the chairs to symbolically give them back to the varsity, he said.
