Imphal, August 01 2019:
M/S Supreme Infrastructure India Ltd has categorically stated that construction of Sawombung bridge would be completed within 4/5 months.
M/S Supreme Infrastructure India Ltd's authorised signatory Sarangthem Somorendro today made a spot assessment of the bridge which is under construction.
Giving a status report of the bridge which is being constructed by M/S Supreme Infrastructure India Ltd under MoRTH with the State PWD as its implementing agency, Somorendro said that the contract of constructing Sawombung bridge was awarded to M/S Supreme Infrastructure India Ltd in June 2015 and it should have been completed by 2018 .

But the bridge construction work could not be completed in time on account of the State's law and order situation.
During a review meeting of National highways held at Shillong on September 24, 2018, Union Minister for MoRTH Nitin Gadkari asked the MoRTH Guwahati Regional Officer to release pending bills for constructing the bridge and also to extend the deadline for completing it, Somorendro claimed and added that no bills has been, however, released since the last payment made in 2016.Even though the completion deadline was not extended, the Regional Officer deducted 10 per cent of the estimated cost as compensation for not completing the bridge within the stipulated period, he said.
There are many cases in the State where projects could not be completed in time but Sawombung bridge is the first case in which 10 per cent compensation has been levied, said the authorised signatory.
As the compensation has been levied, the deadline for completing the project would be extended and the bridge construction work would be completed within 4/5 months, he claimed.
He then appealed to the general public and the State PWD to cooperate towards completion of the bridge construction work.
M/S Supreme Infrastructure India Ltd's site engineer Th Harish also accompanied to the authorised signatory to the work site.
