Imphal, August 01 2019:
The JAC Against the Mysterious Death Ningthoujam Babysana Chanu and the Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) have clarified that they have nothing to do with the ruckus which broke out at Cheirap Court complex this afternoon.
Speaking to media persons at THAU complex this evening, JAC co-convenor and TUC president Pratap Leishangthem said that some people were trying to project their struggle for justice in wrong light by raising a hullabaloo at the Court complex.
The JAC and TUC extended all possible help to the woman Constable and the student who sustained injuries in the ruckus and the two bodies would continue to help them, he said.
On behalf of the JAC and the TUC, Pratap also conveyed gratitude to all the people and students who supported the procession taken out yesterday before the mortal remains of Babysana were put to rest.
But it was a matter of grave concern that some people abused the JAC as well as the people who were taking part in the procession with offensive and profane words as they reached Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Pratap decried while expressing keen desire for SLUCO to look into the matter.
Categorically stating that the JAC has not yet struck any agreement with the Government, the co-convenor appealed to all concerned to stop projecting the JAC as bought over with money by the Government.
The mortal remains of Babysana were claimed as authorised by the masses.
The issue is now a State issue.
The JAC, TUC and the people of Thangmeiband can no longer take any decision on the issue on their own, he said.
There is no question of the JAC backtracking from its position or agitation.
The agitation would go on in consultation with CSOs, student organisations and the public, he said.
Notably, a mob attacked the Cheirap Court complex by hurling stones when Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School Principal P Landhoni's anticipatory bail application was being heard at the Court of Session Judge, Imphal West.
Meanwhile, the Thangmeiband Youths Organisation observed a candlelight vigil at their office this evening demanding justice to the controversial death of Babysana.
