1st IRB celebrates 25 years

The 1st Indian Reserve Battalion stationed at Churachandpur's HQs veng celebrated 25 years of its formation with State DGP LM Khaute unveiling a silver jubilee stone erected to mark the event today.
The 1st IRB is a premier battalion not only for the IR battalions but for the entire State armed police, said Khaute while addressing the event at the battalion headquarters.
"I congratulate the officers, all the ranks and files for having served the State and country for 25 years.
I wish and hope the battalion would continue to serve the people of our State and do the Manipur police proud again and again in various fields of their assignments," Khaute said.

He also took note of the sacrifices made by the men from the battalion, their commitment to the profession, and duty.
Being the oldest unit, they have seen many actions while maintaining law and order in the State, in counter insurgency operations and in protecting the State's lifelines, VIPs, he said.
The silver jubilee stone unveiled today and later dedicated by Rev Dr Khaizakham will remain as a symbol of the Battalion's dedication and, a reminder of the supreme sacrifices made by the personnel who have become martyrs, added the DGP.
The IR battalions are instrumental in providing a sense of security to the people and maintaining the law and order of the State.
As such the Centre has approved the formation of two new battalions, the 10th and 11th, which the State is in the process of raising them, said Khaute.
The Centre, he said, has borne the initial expenses of raising new IR Bns but the land and recurring expenses are to be met by the State.
ADG armed police L Kailun, DIG armed police Priyokumar, DIG armed police Mamata, the SP Churachandpur and several other officers from within the battalion and outside graced the event.
