Imphal, March 01 2020:
The Joint Tribe Council of Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme said on Sunday that it "felt it necessary to clarify the stand of the people whom we represent, to weed out any confusion created by the claim of few anachronistic organizations under the name 'Zeliangrong'" .
According to the Joint Tribe Council, 'Zeliangrong' as a community is "irrelevant" and the organizations and leaders who are using the term are driven by vested interest other than the good of the people.
The Joint Council is formed by Inpui Naga Union (INU), Rongmei Naga Council (R-NC), Liangmai Naga Council (LNC) and Zeme Naga Council (ZNC) .
"It has been and always will be the stand of the whole populace of Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme in the States of Assam and Manipur to support the Naga political movement led by NSCN/GPRN based on the Framework Agreement signed with the Government of India on August 3, 2015," the Joint Tribe Council stated.
According to the Joint Tribe Council, the "resolute trust" of the four tribes on the Naga political movement led by the NSCN/GPRN is not a blind one, but based on the realization of the higher ground-both moral and vantage, commanded by the initiator (ie NSCN-IM) of this ongoing Naga peace talk.
"It is an established fact that, the other parallel negotiating groups were from the beginning never concerned of the concept of the Naga Nation and hence conveniently ignored the welfare of the Nagas outside the State of Nagaland," the Joint Tribe Council said, adding, "And in the lack of sincere affection for the Nagas, the maximum bargaining they could garner was a developmental package thereby reducing the Naga National movement and the sacrifices of thousands of our martyrs to a mere law and order situation" .
According to the Joint Tribe Council, "in the talk that concluded on October 31, 2019, India well accepted the uniqueness of the Naga history and the rights of the Nagas over our identity, tradition, resources and our right to celebrate our political journey thereby allowing Naga flag in all Naga inhabited areas" .
It also said that such concept of shared-sovereignty will be meaningless with partial (only for Nagaland State) or fragmented (Art 371-A in Naga inhabited areas) solution.
It added that Pan Naga Hoho is a visionary step towards fulfilling an integrated Naga Nation enjoying all the sovereign rights as agreed to by the Nagas and the Government of India.
"It is the united appeal of the Inpui Naga Union, Rongmei Naga Council, Liangmai Naga Council and Zeme Naga Council to the Government of India to honour the historic Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015 between the NSCN-IM and Government of India and bring a lasting and peaceful solution which is honourable to both the Nagas and India," the Joint Tribe Council appealed.
