Imphal, March 01 2020:
A one-day political awareness programme was held at Lamlai Mayai Leikai, Imphal East district today.
The programme was jointly organized by Lamlai Kendra Development Political Forum, Lamlai Kendra Development Committee, Lamlai Kendra Development Mahila Committee, Lamlai Kendra Development Hill Area Committee and Lamlai Kendra Youth Development Committee.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) general secretary and spokesperson Kh Devabrata Singh, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Regional Coordinator (North East India Region) and MPCC spokesperson Ningombam Bhupenda Meitei and Co-opted Pradesh Congress Committees (PCC), MPCC member Achoibam Deben Singh among others attended the function as members on the dais.
Speaking at the event, Deben called for collective effort of Congress workers and volunteers of various development committees in Lamlai AC to sensitize the public about the "ill conducts and incapability" of BJP legislators to bring about positive changes in Constituency and the State as a whole.
He said that the Congress workers and members of the various development committees of the Constituency should use their collective wisdom and highlight the "failures" of local MLA in addressing the public grievances.
Deben alleged that the Lamlai AC has been "going backwards" in terms of development since the past many years due to sheer "negligence" of the local MLA.
"There is no facility for availing prepaid electricity recharge in Lamlai AC even though there is an electricity department office in the constituency," he claimed.
"The shifting of Sawombung SDO/SDC office at Porompat has created immense inconveniences for the people.
However, the local MLA took leave from the State Legislative Assembly Session and sat (relaxed) at his home instead of airing the woes of the people of Lamlai AC," he charged.
